So I've been practicing the dream magic, right? And it is tiring. Though I expect as I get better, it'll be less of a drain?
Jalen's being really helpful, as far as volunteering for stuff. When I originally sat him down and talked to him about our discussion, he was...not so happy about it. Mostly worried. But later, when I told him about the dream we had, and how I roasted dream-Calum...He's better about it now. He'd like to get rid of my nightmares himself, but since he can't, helping me to do it myself seems a good compromise. There was some other stuff, but it was all sap and I'm too embarrassed to put any of it down. Not sure I want to anyway; it's the kind of stuff you put in your Heart to take out and cradle later, you know? God, even that sounds like sap.
Um, yesterday I had a nightmare - I think it was just one of my weird normal ones - but that's not the point. The important part was that while we were being chased (Me and some kid I've never seen), I was...disintegrating the dream, for lack of a better term. Catwalks, ladders, whatever I could to try and hinder the guy after us. It didn't feel like a lucid dream, but it was definitely nothing I remember ever doing. And no, I wasn't practicing last night.
Unfortunately the guy just re-formed whatever I destroyed, but it did slow him down.
This one didn't even bug me when I woke up. ^^
((ooc: This was the dream I mentioned wanting to tell you about last night. I found the timing amusing.))

Date: 2009-03-26 12:56 am (UTC)The way Margaret designed it was based on the enchanted dreamcatchers in that book of mine, so it should work for anyone who knows how to manipulate magical energy, but I expect it to take you a while to get used to. Having dream control as my Element gave me a learning advantage even though this technique is different.
Still. Keep working at it, even if only in your own dreams at first. Learning to lucid dream is like learning anything else. You'll get better at it the more you practice. The magic will help your dreams become lucid in the first place, but learning how to control it is up to you. You can do it without any magic, if you start dreaming lucidly by chance. I think that's something important to remember. All the magic does is let you dream lucidly and connect your dream to others. What you do with it depends only on the limits of your imagination.

Date: 2009-03-26 02:51 am (UTC)You could try making real dreamcatchers, too. I could lend you the book, though I ran out of the enchanted thread.
With what Yen Sid said, I'm wondering if the best way to accomplish what I'm looking for is to find some way to set the spell so the catcher doesn't have to be remade every time. It would be especially nice if it could be combined with a Sleep spell so the caster didn't have to wait, though I suppose that could be learned and cast separately.
I don't know how one would go about setting the spell to weave itself automatically, but I actually wonder if those names I was contemplating would come in handy. Names have a lot of power in magic. They define something's truest self. Maybe the right name could be bound with the magic so that speaking it would invoke the spell.

Date: 2009-03-26 03:36 am (UTC)I was thinking about that - or trying to, anyway, but I can't offer anything useful at the moment. Hell, I can't even really offer anything not useful. You know when you have an idea, but it's just a wisp of one that you can't even really articulate, and you keep thinking if you leave it alone, it'll put itself together?
...Or maybe not. This stuff makes more sense before it comes out of my mouth. Or fingers. Or whatever. I'm probably just distracted.
Oh my god I'm getting married. If I faint, I'd better do it while Crys and I are out shopping and not at the actual wedding.

Date: 2009-03-26 03:58 am (UTC)Heheh. For some strange reason, I think I might be jealous. I don't know why. I never particularly wanted to get married (never particularly didn't want to, either, but I tend to be neutral on a lot of odd things).
I think it's just the big exciting romantic celebration thing. Weddings are fun.

Date: 2009-03-26 04:27 am (UTC)I never even really thought about it before...I mean seriously. It was always something other people did. It wasn't like I was going to find anybody. (And if Crys could read that, this is where she'd whack me.) Of course, look what happened. Guess my obsession with going antique shopping really paid off.
And now Jalen's asking if that makes him an antique, not just the ring.
You'd better have fun at this one, then. Even if it's not going to be some big, fancy event. Thank god.

Date: 2009-03-26 04:57 am (UTC)My mother used to perform weddings of all sorts, and she'd drag me along. Some of them were boring, but some were quite fun. One of them I skipped, though, because it was held at a big nature park so I went hiking instead. Ran straight into a bobcat, too, which was awesome.

Date: 2009-03-26 05:34 am (UTC)Unless I'm dreaming too.
Still, I knew a lucid dream when I saw one even before I lost my heart.
... Though, I suppose if I don't know it's a dream and can't control it, then it's not lucid. Hmm...
But no dream is this vivid unless it is one of my Elemental creations, or the Dreaming itself. I think we're safe.

Date: 2009-03-26 07:09 am (UTC)Science teachers, ack. One of my junior high teachers thought he was a mad scientist or something. Or at least, we all thought he was, for leaving a class of thirty kids unattended for ten minutes with a shoebox and a Bunsen burner.
