We should be ready to go by tomorrow, so if someone can manage to come get us, please? I'll bake you cookies~

They let Jalen out yesterday and I've been making him rest ever since. He's sulking all over the place, it's kinda hysterical. It's not helping that Gran keeps walking by and feeling his forehead. She knows he's not sick, I think it's just reflex.

Eli's so happy to have daddy back. So am I.
[identity profile] shadowchaser.livejournal.com
[The screen comes on to show Amy sitting on the floor of her room in Heatherfield, cuddling Eli in her lap while he plays with a small platypus toy. She looks a little worn down, but she's smiling]

Hey guys. Guess who woke up this morning? Mr. Grump is even grumpier when he's been out of it for a few weeks. He's doing okay, but the doctors want to keep him a few more days, since they're kind of going a bit nuts trying to figure out what happened.

[She rolls her eyes heavenward as she strokes her son's hair] Really, am I supposed to tell them that this evil bit- er, cow went into his dreams and locked him up? 'Cause that's what Jalen says happened. That might fly in Radiant Garden, but not here. Speaking of home, I can't wait to get back. Neither can Eli, huh baby? We need to glomp Song and Mabry to pieces.

[Eli pauses in his chewing of the toy to cock his head to the side, looking up at his mother. Then he grins, waving a hand at the screen. Amy laughs]

Yeah, so. I was reading Jalen something ridiculous about a heaving bosom or whatever and he said my name...I dropped the book. I'm so glad...He said he dreamed about me. [The smile fades as she sighs] I wish I could have done something to help, but-

[Amy pauses, as if she's about to say something else, then thinks better of it]

It doesn't matter now. I'll let you guys know when we're ready to get out of here. Say bye-bye, Ladybug.

[Eli laughs, waving the drool-covered toy] Bye! Bye!

[The video ends]
[identity profile] shadowchaser.livejournal.com
Things sure look interesting around here these days. Almost glad I'm in Heatherfield. Checking in. No change with Jalen, and it's been over two weeks. He sleeps, I talk to him plead with him, read cheesy romance novels to him, threaten to have his sword melted down...he sleeps. I can't stand it.

Eli misses his daddy too; I'm not allowed to bring him to visit. Germs, and everything. He does okay during the day, but at bedtime...He's used to sleeping between us, so with daddy not there, it's upsetting to say the least. Not getting much sleep myself, either.

Callie's been playing guard dog again. If I get up in the middle of the night, I trip over her in the doorway. She actually growled at me a few days ago when I went to get Eli up from his nap. I guess the tension's getting to her too, poor thing.

Gran's been babying me when she can; baking me brownies ("Our Brownie needs her brownies!"), cookies, making me hot chocolate from scratch...heck, I think she's knitting me slippers. Granddad's been trying to get me to go places other than the hospital and park. Go to a movie, hang with the girls, help him T.P. this one punk's house. That got my eyebrows up, but he's serious. But I just- I'm tired. And kinda prickly. I'm just picking up on too much these days. Doing a crappy job shielding. Being around people at the hospital and my grandparents is hard enough. I don't want to deal with anyone else right now, no matter how good their intentions. Speaking of intentions, all quiet on the Awiergan front, thank god. I know she's responsible for this mess Jalen's in, and when I get my hands around her throat, I'm gonna squeeze until she pops.

...I miss you guys.
[identity profile] shadowchaser.livejournal.com
I've decided we'll be staying in Heatherfield for the time being. There's a hospital close by that's taking good care of Jalen (Too bad I can't tell them about any magical influence), and my grandparents want us here anyway. Gran says I need someone to mother me for a while. She might have a hard time doing it since I'll be with Jalen a lot.

Eli's happy to see them again. He's being spoiled already.

This thing with Meddie- Medrau being Song...possessing Song, whatever...

I don't-

I don't know.
[identity profile] shadowchaser.livejournal.com
[When the audio comes on, the only sound heard at first is Amy sniffling. When she finally speaks, her voice is shaky]

So Seph dropped me off in Heatherfield and I met up with Elyon and we went back to Meridian, and I can't wake Jalen up. No one's been able to. No one knew how to get ahold of me but Elyon found his laptop- [She pauses to take a breath]

She said they tried and tried, but- He seems fine otherwise, but I can't get into his dreams- [Amy's voice breaks, followed by a hiccuping sob, then silence. She continues several seconds later, her voice steady but distant]

Elyon wants to consult the Council of Kandrakar. I just want to take him home, get him to a hospital. So help, anybody...if you can't, I'll get him back to Gran and Granddad and the hospital there.

...Eli.

Eli's...okay. Don't worry about him.

[Right before the audio shuts off, she whispers]

They were supposed to be safe here.

Halloween was a blast. Everyone thought Eli was 'the sweetest little wizard!', and he got lots of candy. Of course, he didn't get to eat any of it. We went home and Eli got applesauce and smushed banana while I showed Jalen how to check the candy for tampering. Ah, the passing on of ancient skills. Yeah, I'm weird. But hey, the weird one remembered to save some candy for you Song! *cackle* I keep thinking of the pillow fort. We totally need to do that again once we have Rainbow's End back. I'm getting so excited, we might get to go home soon. We will go home soon.

Um, in other news. Granddad's been looking around the apartment, and he thinks we can expand a bit. There's supposed to be a storage room on the other side of the wall, next to the kitchen, and he wants to knock a doorway in so Eli can have his own room. Of course, then he had to point out that it'd work even better after he and gran were gone, so if we have another kid they'll each have their own space. I surprised myself by not crying/yelling at him/going mute. Yay me. Granddad's gonna call around tomorrow and see about having someone come out to take a look. Here's to hoping that we'll be home by the time construction starts. I'm not exposing Eli to wood dust and saws and god knows what else.
[identity profile] shadowchaser.livejournal.com
Happy Halloween! I can't wait to take Eli out this afternoon. He's gonna look so adorable. I couldn't find any little robes for him to wear that I liked, but I did find some fabric, so Hay Lin made him some. They're so cute. I know, I'm gushing, but what do you expect? It's my baby's first Halloween. Okay, so at nine months old he doesn't care, but still. More pictures for the scrapbook! We dressed him up last night to make sure everything fit well, and took some shots.

[Beware the Holy Child Eli tipped over on the couch, dressed as Yen Sid. He's missing his makeshift beard and the hat's falling off his brown hair.]

He was sitting up right before Jalen took that. Up until...ooh, half a second before, I think. Did it just to spite his father.

I'm more bouncy than I usually am today, not just because it's one of my favorite holidays. Stayed up kinda late with granddad watching a horror movie marathon, and ended up with this awful nightmare as a result, so I'm trying to squish it. Jalen was nowhere to be seen, my dog was hurt, and when I went into the bathroom to get gauze and antiseptic out of the medicine cabinet, there was another girl in the mirror. I can't for the life of me remember what she looked like, but I know it wasn't me. Scared me to death. Told Jalen about it over my cornflakes this morning, and he said he's not surprised. Next time granddad tells me not to watch the big, scary movies, I should listen. Someone ended up getting kicked under the table. He's right though, I'm not good with horror movies. Dunno why I even watch them, I end up hiding my face in my hands during the gory scenes.

I've still got some other stuff to do today before we go out, so I'd better shut up. Hope you guys all have a good time tonight! Watch out for the weirdos. Oh wait, that's us.

We have a Blizzard crystal. We are all happy. Except for Jalen, he's not as happy as he could be, because he was a tasty tuna. Plus, I am never going near talking sharks again. Or letting my kids near any. But Song pontificating is a wonderful distraction. (Even more so when she's a flying fish.)

I need to hug my kid to bits and pieces now. (Again.) Leaving him in Meridian with Miriadel was safe for him, but awful for me. The next time we have one of these 'field trips' he's going with us for sure. Unless it's dangerous. Which it will be. Oh hell.

Gran bought me a stuffed rabbit while I was gone. Um, okay?
[identity profile] shadowchaser.livejournal.com
I spent some of my hard-earned sleep time this morning cleaning blood off of Jalen. -_- He's fine, it's just a scratch. Okay, a sort of deep one, but still. He woke me up around three demanding that I feed his cat to my dog. She tends to sleep on the bed with us, and apparently she managed to scratch his back somehow. I'm not surprised, happened to me once upon a time with mine. Thorns is now exiled to the living room at night. Poor kitty. First the drawing of Jalen and now this. Maybe she's mad at us for keeping her indoors.

Or maybe she's just being a cat.

Taking Eli out today to try and find some eensy magician's robes for him. He'll be going as a mini Yen Sid for his first Halloween. Jalen thinks I'm insane. He's just lucky I'm not making him dress up this year. Of course we'll be going out while it's still light, but he's gonna escort us anyway. Maybe he can just go as himself. I'm sure we can find some breeches or something somewhere.

Would someone please save me from the nightmare that's been haunting me all day? I was back home on Earth, and my dad was still alive, and there was this- bat demon thing that wouldn't leave me alone. It had these huge wings and was taller than me - taller than Jalen, even - and had gold eyes. It couldn't talk, just growl, but it wanted my soul, that was understood. Dad got me in the house and told me not to worry, that it couldn't come in, but it just kept clinging to the windows and staring in at me wherever I went. I mean, hell. I was stuck so far in that thing it didn't even occur to me that I could change it. What good is it being able to screw with dreams when you forget you can?

I'm never watching Pan's Labyrinth again. I think this was inspired by that faun. Or maybe Ofelia's stepfather. Blech.
[identity profile] shadowchaser.livejournal.com
Well, my sleep last night officially sucked. Things were pretty busy yesterday and I went to bed late, so I was asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow, or almost. Then I got wrapped up in this dream where we're back at Rainbow's End, and everything was fine, no more Heartless, and Josi's back, so he and Song were all cuddly on the couch, and then- It just sorta skipped, and I was going upstairs to get Eli, I had to get him before something terrible happened, and then I noticed that all the walls were freezing, like someone had cast an enormous blizzard spell on the house. So I started trying to outrun the ice and get to Eli's room - it was on the second floor and not right next to ours anymore, so we must've had Lanie by then - and he wasn't there, but there was a Neoshadow on his bed. I freaked out and ran up to the third floor with the ice right on my heels, and just as Lanie's crib came into sight a Shadow jumped out of that. I woke up screaming (which I never do) and scared the hell out of everybody. I'm better now I think and I've been cuddling Eli all morning. Jalen's been trying to get me to go back to sleep - been up since four - but...ugh. I'll probably take a nap soon. At least this thing didn't feel like one of my special dreams.
[identity profile] shadowchaser.livejournal.com
Sorry I haven't been around much lately - or at all. Things've been kinda busy. A week or so after we got home (and showed Ray where to go in Meridian), Eli got sick. His first cold! I was kind of shocked, actually, I expected one before this. He must have his father's immune system. One can only hope. Anyway, I think he caught it from one of the other babies in the 'Mommy and Me' type class that Gran talked me into. I thought I wouldn't worry so much since it was just a cold, but every time he coughed or sneezed, I was right there. Jalen ended up arranging for Hay Lin to come kidnap me every evening so I could work on my magic. And stop driving everyone nuts.

I got the barrier spell to expand to the size of my hand again, and I can do it without fainting as long as I don't try to sustain it for more than a few seconds. Nifty. ^^ I'm also making a little progress in that area of the dream magic I wanted to focus on. Jalen hasn't figured out if he's annoyed or amused yet. I know exactly what I am. >__>
[identity profile] seolearo.livejournal.com
[ here's Ray, sitting in a large, dim library. There's a few piles of books around her, but she's focused on the one in her hands ]

I've been burying myself in some more dusty old tomes for the past few weeks here in Meridian. Didn't find much on what I wanted, until last night.

I was researching Light Corridors, between trying to find any hints about what's been going on, lately. This book here [ holds up the book she was looking at ] says that, if you're not taught the proper way to use them, you need assistance to do so - that would be my bracelet, I think [ holds up her wrist for a second to show it ]. It's enchanted to make portals, and I can't do it without. But the book goes on to say that, in order to learn to use Light Corridors without assistance, you need "a mastery of the Light."

[ She finally looks at the camera ] I don't know how many of you know about it, but I crafted a Light spell a while back, using what Calum told me about how he used Darkness. I took the Darkness spell, if you can call it that, and tried to turn it into Light, using the same technique. It took me some time, and it apparently required me turning into a light fairy, but I got it to work, and it's a lot easier for me to use than Calum's Dark... thing. Problem is, it's still a first-level spell.

[ grins ] So. Anyone want to help me go for Lightra? Maybe you, Roxas, since your element way back when was Light? Figure I could learn something from you about it, if you let me. If not, ah well. Any help from anyone about this would be much appreciated!
[identity profile] shadowchaser.livejournal.com
Soooo, Song...I hope you're still breathing out there somewhere since I haven't heard from you lately. You know, just buried in your experiments, forgetting about this thing called time that marches on. 'Cause you know, if anything had happened to you during your little meeting with our new 'friend'...Bah, ignore me, I'm kinda cheesed off today. Things sorta went slightly boom yesterday and someone is making me stay in bed. Geeze, it wasn't that bad, and I told him and told him it was an accident, but nooo, let's not listen to me, obviously I was trying to scare the crap out of him for lack of anything better to do.

Yeah, okay, what happened. Right. Last night I got invited over to Irma's for movie night with the girls. We were in the middle of this horror-comedy when Hay Lin threw some popcorn at Cornelia. Well, she wasn't standing for that, and it kind of went from movie night to 'Hey let's have a popcorn war and get it all over the house' night. It was actually pretty fun, with all of us jumping on/over furniture and flinging kernels at each other, some of them with little um, magical boosts. Like I sorta charred this one piece I threw at Will and it went to ashes all down her front- anyway. At one point Cornelia was really close and threw a handful right at my face, and I brought my hand up to block it, and I dunno. The popcorn didn't hit my hand, it hit a barrier almost the size of it. I did it! I made something bigger than the salt shaker without even trying! Only enjoyed it for a second though, 'cause um.

I kinda fainted. When I came around Jalen was there, and my grandparents' house is ten minutes away. -_- Granted, he probably ran. So I've been getting lectures and watching him hover and tell me how foolish that was, and never mind I didn't do it on purpose. He hid the book from me too, the brat. Like I'm gonna screw with it right now anyway. In any case, I'm gonna have to go back to doing things really small again. But he made the comment I should go back to working with safer forms of magic Excuse me while I laugh at him and that made me think about the Dream magic, since I haven't really been working on that too much lately. Anyway Song, want to come stay a few days and we can poke at stuff? I should be much better in a couple days, I'm only a little tired right now anyway. Or we can wait another week, whatever.

Jalen's back in here, leaning against the door frame and telling me to quit writing to be rescued. I am not.
[identity profile] shadowchaser.livejournal.com
My birthday was a blast. My grandparents and the girls threw me a surprise party. ^^; Never had one of those before. It wasn't very hard for Jalen to get me out of the house for the hour or two it took to set things up, he just suggested we take Eli to the park. Then, while we were walking by the lake, he stops and tells Eli, "This is where I proposed to your mother." Cue blushing time. I'd like to say I thought I was over doing that so easily, but I guess not. We got back to the apartment where I was startled to death by people jumping out from behind furniture. Yay for mini-heart attacks. The cake was great (Gran baked it) and the presents...well. I got a lot of cheesy romance novels (Jalen's been sharing with Will, wonderful), a little jade pendant keychain inscribed with the Chinese character for luck, a tiny little flashlight/whistle with an even tinier compass on the barrel (This amuses and annoys me by turns), and a digital camera from my grandparents. Now I don't have to mooch off other people anymore to take pictures of my angel. Ooh, speaking of pictures, Jalen got me recent ones for the locket. He wanted to actually put them in the locket first and surprise me, but I've gotten in the habit of never taking it off, so...

Anyway, party was great, and yes I've been practicing that spell. Or trying to. So far, the only thing that's happened has been this funky tingling in my hands and sorta up my arms, like when I touch something odd. I'm not sure if that means it's working or not. Guess I'll just keep trying. Jalen's already reminded me to start small; he dumped a salt shaker on the table in front of me and walked away. Ha ha.

[The video comes on to show Amy sitting cross-legged on a sleeping bag laid out on a stone floor. There are a few small stacks of books surrounding her. She's grinning.]

I have a genius child! Okay, so it was luck, but let me be weird. Vathek's been down here looking through the stuff we can't make heads or tails of, and Jalen and I have cleaned out two whole bookcases already, but no dice...but then there was this.

[She holds up a fairly old, thick book with a green cover.]

Jalen was holding Eli up to the books, asking him 'Which one should mama fall asleep on now?'- You know, I only did it twice, and both books read like my old algebra textbook, so- anyway. Eli reached out and touched this one, and what do you know, it's got something useful in it!

[She flips the book open and holds it closer to the screen, showing pages covered in ornate script.]

Looks like Swahili or something, doesn't it? Yay calligraphy. I had to stare at it awhile before it started making sense. I found- hang on.

[Amy lowers the book to her lap and begins paging through it while she talks.]

There's a barrier spell in here. It looks like it might work similar to Bubble, but more like a box. Could probably work as just a one piece thing too, I dunno. I'm gonna give it a shot. Well, several. It could be useful later on. Hell, it could be useful now, but...

[She trails off as she finds what she's looking for, then studies the page in silence for a few moments before shaking her head and looking up.]

Eh, sorry. Thinking again. So that's it. Promise to be careful and not blow anyone up.

[There's a sudden thumping noise off-screen, then Jalen's voice.]

We need to ask Elyon about the book, remember? Shouldn't you finish that?

[Amy nods as she closes the book, addressing the laptop again.]

Need to get permission to take this thing with us, we're going back home for a few days. Jalen doesn't think I should be spending my birthday Sunday like a mole.

[Jalen mutters something that the audio doesn't quite catch, and Amy laughs as she shuts off the video.]

ooc: Already got mod permission for this. ^^
[identity profile] shadowchaser.livejournal.com
So, we're drowning in books here. The Mage's library isn't as big as I was picturing; it's actually about the size of my room back on Earth - surprised I still remember that - but it's literally wall to ceiling books. Not all of them are in English though, so that should narrow it down...or maybe not. It would figure, wouldn't it, to have what we need right in front of us, yet never know it 'cause we can't read it. I'll ask Caleb tomorrow, maybe he knows someone that can translate. Some of these books are so old, too, almost brittle. I've never been around books like that. Makes me nervous.

Eli's doing good, Jalen's almost bored. He's a reader for sure, but I know he'd rather be up and moving a lot of the time. He can always go wander the Infinite City for a while, but I'd be tempted to tie a rope to him. Four thousand years and no one's found an end to this place in any direction. Just lucky that the Mage's dwelling is only about a fifteen minute walk from the entrance in the village. It's all ornate carvings and green marble down here, kinda claustrophobic. Then there's a sliding panel in the floor that leads down another flight of stairs, and that opens up into this grand stone room with a waterfall. You have to pass through it to get to where we are. Eli loved that.

I'd better finish the book I'm on, then we're going above ground for sunshine and lunch. Yay.
[identity profile] shadowchaser.livejournal.com
I'm going out soon to get a couple sleeping bags and some supplies, we're leaving in the morning. Will's gonna portal us to Meridian, and after we meet up with Caleb, he'll take Jalen and I (And Eli of course) down into the Infinite City to the Mage's old dwelling. We're gonna camp out in her library and do some research. Part of me is absolutely gleeful about it - Yay reading! - but the rest? Jeeze, so many books to go through. Caleb's been in there before, he says it isn't small. Not as big as the palace library (Which we'll need to go through eventually), but more than a few bookcases.

Hopefully we'll find something useful.
[identity profile] shadowchaser.livejournal.com
Okay, so, Song. Um. I'm sorry. You were right, I was making a mistake. I'm sorry I hurt you. Don't say I didn't, I know I did. But things are okay now, I'm done being an idiot. You helped a lot, you know. You scared me, which wasn't something Jalen was willing to do. And Ray helped tons too, and didn't eat me, for which I'm grateful. ^^

I'll be calling Will tomorrow to see what I can do about setting up another field trip. Time for some more research on this end.

Also, the movie that Gran dragged Jalen to? Drama, young teenage romance, and possibly glitter. Not sure about that last part though, Jalen refuses to talk about it. Gah.
[identity profile] shadowchaser.livejournal.com
So Ray, any idea when you're coming by so I can be somewhere else for the lecture clean up around here? Unless you don't mind a mess. No, I'm not trying to stall, why do you ask?
