The others really didn't have much to do with it... I betrayed all of them when I tried to help him. And you have to understand that Xehanort's Nobody was not the same as Xehanort himself. Indeed, he detested his original self and had entirely different plans and intentions. I'm not trying to excuse what I did, but I want to be sure you understand the whole of situation.
Xehanort may have been a liar, but his Nobody was honest. Xemnas withheld information, but he never intentionally lied or went back on his word. In the end, of course, Xemnas was being "lied" to by Xehanort himself, in that he didn't know what he really was. He was a being of Darkness and Evil, but he didn't know that. Try to imagine it for a moment. He was trying to do right by the universe, but his very own nature worked against him, convincing him that destruction was the only right way. It makes him no less terrible, but it does change the story...
because I didn't know how terrible he was either, and when I did find out, I turned against him. Does that satisfy you?
Believe what you want, but Xemnas wasn't lying. Ignorant, but not dishonest. I had more than just his words to go by on this.
And does it matter? Your original complaint was that "we" helped him. I just told you that I turned on him once I learned the truth. If you think him such a liar, do you blame me for not knowing that truth from the start?
You knew what he was like and what his goals were, the prophecy? I wasn't so lucky to have it laid out for me, and if I did, I wouldn't have ignored it.
As a matter of fact, I first came face to face with Xemnas during a time when our memories of the prophecy were hazy at best. By the time those memories cleared, he'd shown a whole new light on his perspective, and for better or worse, I was convinced.
Convinced that what? The end of the world was a good idea?
[...] You know what, I don't care how much he manipulated you, or how mad you were for believing him. I can talk myself in circles about this and never convince you.
What I do care about is the fact that he's still out there.
Oh, you mean Orpheus. Don't be daft. If you met the poor boy, you wouldn't recognize him no matter how much he looks like you. If you trust me on nothing else, trust this; Xemnas is dead, as is the Xehenort you knew. The First Darkness - the entity which gave him his power - is weakened and scattered, at least for the time being. If it had been possible to destroy it, we would have done that too.
Hard-headed like your namesake. I shouldn't be surprised.
Will you believe this, then? Orpheus was not the one I fell in love with. I wish there was more of the old Xemnas in him, but apparently I didn't save the person I was trying to. Either way, he's gone now. I don't expect him to come back and you'll likely never meet him, so please, find contentment in that. Unless you'd like to wallow with me in the utter lack of closure. They do say misery loves company.
[ Aqua is not happy. See that? That thing on her face? That is a frown. A BIG frown. The kind of frown that may or may not mean that you are in trouble, mister. ]
[ She is absolutely horrified for a second there, but she manages to pull herself together and gives him a pleading look. ]
And Sora defeated him. And maybe that did mean bringing Master Xehanort back, but we can't blame her for that, just because she fell in love. That's what happens when the Heartless and Nobody is destroyed, you know that.
[ She gives him a small, tired smile and says this very softly... ] Besides, this means we have the chance to make up for the past. We can defeat him this time. For good.
Not all of us helped him, you know. We weren't all involved with him; hell, some of us weren't involved with the Nobodies at all beyond being scared shitless that hey, we're kids, and there are some powerful fucking unemotional bastards out there that can kill us with practically just a thought.
I got involved with some of the Nobodies. I talked to Xehanort's Nobody a few times, too. But that doesn't mean I helped him. That doesn't mean any of us helped him.
So obviously Roxas didn't tell you everything, or he would have told you that.
What, you think we could just waltz up willy-nilly and kill the fucker?
Terra, this is gonna be like a punch in the gut, but you, Ven, and Aqua couldn't even defeat Master Xehanort, and you're Keybearers. How do you expect a bunch of regular kids from Earth who have just learned how to fight and use magic to kill him? You know the rest of the Nobodies we faced? They pretty much all kicked our asses before they were taken down, either by a group of us refs fighting together, or by Sora and his friends. And Xemnas was the most powerful Nobody of the Organization. Besides that, he had all his underlings that we had to go through before we could even consider going after him.
There are very, very few of us who were even remotely capable of stopping him, even when we got together to fight. So holding that against us? Is kind of a dick move.
I don't know anymore, dude. First you said it was because we helped Xehanort or Xemnas or whoever the fuck, then you said it was because we didn't stop him, then you say we shouldn't have...
So what the fuck, Terra? You that little thing we call clarity? It kind of helps resolve these sorts of issues. So please, by all means. Stop beating around the bush and just say it, because I'm starting to think this is getting around to just more self-destructive bullshit because you couldn't beat Xehanort in the first place.
There had to have been something you could have done. The safety of the worlds might be at stake because of what happened. Ven might be targeted again... And that... terrifies me.
There is nothing we can do to stop love. Tell her "no," maybe, "don't do it," but in most cases that's proven to make it stronger. And that would have probably made things much worse than they are now.
And we'll all do our best to help keep Ven safe. We may not know him as well as you do, but he means a lot to us, too. He's a sweet kid, a wonderful kid, and I promise you that we will protect him as well as we can.
I don't know the details. I heard about it secondhand. But they said Xemnas ripped her Heart out, soon after she got it back, and she wasn't Brixon after that. She was just a Dusk.
I can forgive Terra for being afraid. He did kind of lose miserably to Xehanort with dire and long-term effects.
But I wish he could remember, it was Terra and Aqua who stood at the Door and guided me to where Orpheus was after the Dreaming. They helped me save him - or some part of them did, anyway.
My point is more that I don't understand how we are being blamed for . . . um, right, the creation of a version of Xemnas-Xehanort that was unaffected by the First Darkness, AKA the thing that made him evil to begin with.
The wish was granted by the Worlds themselves. I'm pretty sure they would not have created a being who was still a danger. If there's an issue . . . take it up with them.
That's my point too. As far as I can tell, Terra just can't believe that any version of Xehanort (or any entity spawned from him) could be free of the First Darkness taint.
If I'm mistaken, Terra, I did leave this conversation unlocked so you can correct me. I have issues with talking about people behind their backs.

I guess I can't expect you to believe anything I say... Just try not to judge everyone by something a few people did.
