Now that that's cleared up...
Why precisely did you leave? Because from this angle it looks to me like you're doing exactly what Orpheus and Josiah did. They ran away to protect their friends from themselves and to escape the reminders of their Tragic Pasts.
Now once again, your choice, your life, all that. However...
In leaving your old life behind, you leave behind the people you care about. In running away to protect your friends, you distance yourself from the people most capable of helping you if something does go wrong.
So there's my mandatory Logical Argument. Do what you will with it.
And as a disclaimer, I apologize if my opinion is just a touch biased. I was looking forward to seeing you when I got home.
