At a very random guess, I might say that... portals opened up and spewed monsters from Final Fantasy worlds out across the multiverse while disrupting the flow of magic and weather. This no doubt has some link to the fact that a couple Final Fantasy worlds have recently opened their borders. Again, very random guess.
