Yeah, posting again, gee, I must have so much free time on my hands! Not. But I actually had a dream about Song that for once wasn't her in a lab coat making me do science homework in a high school classroom. Yes, that's what I tend to dream about in regards to her, whatever. Instead I get a spectacular nightmare that's still bothering me, and the damn thing woke me up close to five this morning. I'd really love to take a nap, but-
Gah, anyway.
Dream starts off perfectly calm. I'm downstairs with Jalen in the kitchen, kinda joking around with him while I make myself lunch. I ask him if he wants anything, and he ends up complaining about tuna taking over his life. That gets a giggle or ten out of me, then I decide to go check on Eli, whom I'd put down for his nap earlier. I get upstairs and open the nursery door, and there's this...shadow welling up out of the floor. This thing is huge, it's covering most of the floor and moving like...I dunno, liquid, almost. While I'm standing there staring like an idiot, the shadow takes shape in front of the crib, and suddenly it's Calum standing there, leaning over watching Eli sleep. I kinda have this moment of 'Oh the hell you don't' and raise my hands to fry him, and then totally out of nowhere a freakin' wolf jumps on him, knocking him away. It's not just any wolf, it's Song. I remember thinking, 'Hey, haven't we done this before' and then I'm just watching her tear the Shadow-Calum to absolute shreds. He doesn't bleed though, just leaks out black ooze. Then just as suddenly as the whole thing started, he's gone, and Song-wolf is standing in the middle of the room panting at me, looking as pleased with herself as a wolf can look. I run over to the crib and grab Eli, and he's fine, all happy and reaching for Song and babbling.
I suddenly remember Jalen and have this completely overwhelming feeling that the shadow went downstairs, so I put Eli back in his crib and ask Song-wolf, 'You'll protect him, won't you?' and she...well, she smiled. As well as a wolf can, anyway. So I ran back downstairs into the kitchen, and Jalen was gone. Looked everywhere for him, not a trace. I suddenly realized that he had just been a distraction, and Eli was in terrible danger, so I busted my ass back up to the nursery, and-
I don't even want to write this part. I don't even want to think this part, because it was so awful and
The room was covered in blood. It was all over the crib and the floor and some had splashed onto the rocking chair...the only sign of Eli was a tattered leg of his pjs dangling from the wolf's mouth. She was just sitting there, muzzle covered in blood, panting at me with that wolf's grin. And I just-
I know, I'm eating something weird or worrying too much or I'm 'understandably upset' about what happened to Eli and my brain's trying to work it out or all three, but it was so real and
It couldn't have been Song. I mean, she would never do that. She took on the form of a wolf once when we were trying to deal with my fear of Calum, and she kicked his ass, so I know where that came from. But the rest of it, I don't know.
Gah, anyway.
