Perhaps a truce is in order. I have the feeling that my actions in the past have set some of you on edge.

Any particular terms you'd like to mention regarding this truce?

It's very simple really and something I've told Miss Song numerous times - stay out of my affairs and I will stay out of yours.

And I've told you, Calum, that injuring members of our unit, whether physically or mentally, is an act of interference with our affairs. If your actions continue to have this effect, then your terms cannot be met. To achieve this truce, we must be assured that you will not harm Josiah, Lilith, or any of our allies again.

Which is the reason for this truce. The boy and I will come to another agreement of our own, and you can rest assured that Lilith and I have nothing of importance to discuss anymore.

Like Ray, I'd want to talk to Josiah.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for peace. I simply don't want a friend of mine sacrificing too much of himself for our protection. This is perhaps one of the few cases in which I have no shame in being hypocritical.

That sort of agreement doesn't really concern you.

You keep saying that, and I keep saying that what concerns my friends concerns me.

What is it about you children that makes you so morbidly curious in someone else's affairs? More importantly, someone else's affairs that originally had nothing to do with you?

I don't know about the others, but I myself have a tendency to form very strong bonds with people, very easily. A large part of my existence is defined by my relationships in that they determine the choices I make. What's more, I despise how easily misunderstandings can come about due to lack of communication, and how emotionally damaging such misunderstandings can be. Thus I am always very curious about the thoughts and feelings of the people I'm close to. If I know what they feel, I know how best to behave in their presence and how to help them if they need it.
I also simply like to know that my friends are alive and well, as anyone would.

Is that enough psychology for you?

And the people you're not close to? I hardly see the point of trying to anticipate the actions and feelings of strangers. Especially ones who want nothing to do with you.

My goal is not to kill him, Miss Song, as that would mean my death as well. Whatever agreement we come to, it wouldn't intentionally come to that.

I wasn't talking about you. I want to know Josiah's feelings on this. I don't care about your business unless it threatens the Refugees.

True. On that, I will agree with you.

I would not force him to change his mind. I only want to make sure that he fully accepts whatever agreement you might come to, of his own free will, and that he is prepared for it. That is all.
