[ video ]

[ There is a faint, warm light flickering nearby - a candle, trying and failing to further illuminate the distinctively dreary, gray light that accompanies a storm. Ray looks like she only just woke up, eyes blinking owlishly from sleep. When she speaks, her voice is slow, solemn, with a tinge of something else just beneath the surface that she doesn't want to show. ]

The plan is working. It's slow going. But we expected that, you know? [ She smiles. ] Can't cure poison instantly. It takes time to heal. We were doing it, though. We were making it happen. [ Ray looks away for a moment, smile faltering. When her eyes flick back to the screen, it has faded completely. ] But there's something you guys need to see.

[ The camera whirls as Ray picks it up and turns it around. It settles on a view of the tops of buildings, and the sky beyond. Strange, dark clouds are roiling up there, and lightning flickers from far off. They are eerily reminiscent of the storm that struck Earth and Destiny Islands years ago. ]

[ Ray's voice is soft when she speaks again, almost a whisper. ] Look familiar to anyone? They just rolled in the other day, but the storm hasn't begun just yet. They were on the horizon for a few days before that. Everyone thought it was just another storm, a hurricane out of season or something. I hoped they were right, but this... [ She pauses, taking a deep breath. ] It brought more Heartless with it. More than Atlantica's been seeing lately, and that's a lot already. We've lost more people to them and the Miasma, and it... It doesn't look good. Not at all.

I don't know if we should even bother trying to neutralize the Miasma anymore. I think we're running out of time for that. At this point, I think it's time to just give up on saving Atlantica, and rescue who we can before it's too late.

[ There is a shaky sigh. ] All this, right when we found a way.

Oh, and I haven't seen anyone that looked particularly suspicious, as per Margaret's suggestion. Not that that means much anymore, around here. Everyone's looking suspicious, and we've been busy.

So, um. Yeah. Atlantica's basically lost, now. I don't suppose it would be feasible to ask for help in rescuing who we can? I know Lesley and Eliphas and I have our various Corridors, and I don't know about them, but I can only open mine for so long. I've gotten better at it, but it isn't enough for a rescue of such a large scale. Not to mention that I've been feeling pretty shitty lately, but that's probably exposure to the Miasma.

[ Ray goes quiet for a few moments. Lightning flickers, and yells float up from the streets, quieted a second later by an echo of rolling thunder. ]

I'm going to go talk to Ariel and Eric. Maybe King Triton, if I can get a hold of him. We have to get rescue efforts underway as soon as possible.

[ The camera shuts off. ]

I can help some but. I don't know where I would bring the underwater residents. Unless they change form they would most likely need to be brought to a sea and I'm not sure the ones on other worlds would be safe for them.

Someone will have to make sure they're not treated as hostile invaders or, in the case of Mirror Earth, oddities to be gawked at.

It's going to be difficult. I suppose first we should see if they change form when removed from their world and go from there.

Urchin?

This is going to be messy no matter where they end up, isn't it?

[identity profile] creepy-son-of-a.livejournal.com 2011-05-03 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah.

I suppose you're right.

[identity profile] sharagran.livejournal.com 2011-05-03 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Won't Dark Corridors have an adverse effect on those who pass through without protective spells or clothing?

[identity profile] sharagran.livejournal.com 2011-05-03 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Then I hope they don't take too long traversing the in-between.

Well well, time for me to put up a show.

Will. And the Heart. She could help evacuate, I mean. Since she's never been to Atlantica I need to show her, but I could do that- Except it's the middle of the day and she might not be home-

Never mind. I'm gonna see if I can get ahold of her, and then maybe

Be careful, okay? I'll let you know if I can reach her.

Cripes, my head. Remind me to never do that again. Or wait five years, whichever. Got ahold of Will, she and the girls are more than happy to help. Showed her your entry, but she wasn't sure it'd be enough to find Atlantica, so I got to try the 'across worlds funtime dream stuff' again. Basically just took what was on your video and added what I know about the place to it...tried to reconstruct it in the dream.

It was a pain in the ass to hold it together, but she thinks she can get there now. Wherever you want her to open the portal to, show the Heart. As long as the picture is clear and your will is strong, it should work. Did that time from Heatherfield to Disney Castle, after all. On the fifth try.

Well, this is intriguing. In the same way one might find the walking dead interesting.

Still, you Refugees are rather resourceful. You have even reclaimed a world before. I wonder, how you shall overcome this challenge?

[LOCKED to ACADEMY]
You all might want to hurry up. This Miasma was launched at Atlantica, specificaly. I can think of think of two reasons.

One, Atlantica is mostly ocean making it very easy to distribute the Miasma. Port Royal could have been an acceptable launch platform then, too.

Two, Ol' D1 is on to us, and either wants those macguffins for himself, or doesn't want our mitts on them. Of course, there are a lot more efficient ways of going about either of these goals, so I could be wrong. Either way, step lively people.

I wonder if I offended you in the past somehow. Whenever I post here, you seem to make it a point to try and infer negative things about me.

In any case, is something wrong with being slightly uncomfortable about the proliferation of a parasite race that exists solely to consume? I am not so prideful to believe that I can control that virus.

[identity profile] hyperpsyche.livejournal.com 2011-05-05 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, God. No, not again...

I shouldn't have left. I might have been able to find something if I'd kept at it for just a little longer.

[identity profile] sharagran.livejournal.com 2011-05-05 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't go 'it's-all-my-fault' on me now toots. This would've happened regardless of your interference. I know a lost world when I see one.

As much as I hate to agree with him, he's right. What's done is done and instead of lingering on the past, we should focus on getting as much people offworld as we can.

[identity profile] hyperpsyche.livejournal.com 2011-05-05 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
But I... it...

...No, you're right. I don't have a ship or anything, but maybe Alexander and I could buy a little more time for everyone by holding back the Darkness somehow, or at least by exterminating Heartless.

[identity profile] hyperpsyche.livejournal.com 2011-05-06 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I know, I know, wallowing in despair bad, introducing agents of Darkness to lots of sharp, pointy things good. I just can't help but think that if there had been more time, I could have found something.

I will find something, before it spreads and claims another world. And the witch who caused this is going to pay.

[identity profile] vain-smile.livejournal.com 2011-05-06 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that what you think?

[identity profile] hyperpsyche.livejournal.com 2011-05-06 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I've got a brand new iron nailbat with your name on it, witch.
